EWP & Scissor Lift Training in Mackay

Anyone operating an elevating work platform under 11m needs to be trained and competent to do it. We deliver EWP and scissor lift training (Yellow Card) for units under 11m at your workplace across Mackay and Central Queensland.

What the course covers

• Pre-start inspection and machine fault identification
• Ground conditions, set-up, outriggers and slope limits, the cause of most EWP incidents
• Working near powerlines and exclusion zones
• Harness and fall protection requirements in a boom versus a scissor lift
• Safe operation, travelling elevated and load limits
• Emergency lowering and rescue from height, including what a ground person needs to know

What it costs

$450 per person for groups of 6. Other RTOs charge $600 to $750 for the same card.

All training is delivered face to face at your workplace, and on-site delivery within 50km of Mackay is included at no extra cost. Outside that radius we quote it custom. Delivering on site keeps your people on the job: you lose them for the time it takes to be deemed competent, not for a full day of travel.

Fewer people than the minimum? Ask anyway. The group minimum is what keeps the per-head price where it is, but we can look at an adjusted rate for smaller groups on a case by case basis.

Who it suits

Construction and maintenance crews, fabrication and workshop teams, facilities and cleaning contractors, and mining contractors running scissor lifts and small boom lifts around Mackay and the wider region.

Important on rescue

Training an operator is only half the job. If someone is stuck or injured in a basket at height, you need a plan and a person on the ground who can bring them down. We cover emergency lowering in the course, and we can write the rescue plan and run the drill as part of your wider emergency management if you want it done properly.

All accredited training and assessment is delivered in conjunction with Advanced Industry Training, RTO 5363, so course outcomes are nationally recognised.
