A forklift high risk work licence (LF) is a legal requirement for anyone operating a counterbalance forklift at work in Queensland. We run the three day course in Mackay at your workplace, with no logbook required, so your operator finishes the course licence-ready rather than carrying a logbook around for weeks afterwards.

What the course covers

  • Pre-operational checks, fault identification and taking a machine out of service
  • Load assessment, load charts and stability
  • Safe operating technique, travelling, stacking and de-stacking
  • Pedestrian and mobile plant interaction, the single biggest injury risk with forklifts on a busy site
  • Shutdown, parking and refuelling or recharging
  • Assessment against the high risk work licence requirements

What it costs

$850 per person for groups of 7 to 8. Other RTOs charge around $990 for the equivalent course.

All training is delivered face to face at your workplace, and on-site delivery within 50km of Mackay is included at no extra cost. Outside that radius we quote it custom. Delivering on site keeps your people on the job: you lose them for the time it takes to be deemed competent, not for a full day of travel.

Fewer people than the minimum? Ask anyway. The group minimum is what keeps the per-head price where it is, but we can look at an adjusted rate for smaller groups on a case by case basis.

Who it suits

Workshops, fabrication shops, transport and logistics operators, hardware and supply yards, mining contractors and any Mackay business running a forklift where operators are unlicensed or tickets have lapsed.

All accredited training and assessment is delivered in conjunction with Advanced Industry Training, RTO 5363, so course outcomes are nationally recognised.

Common questions

Why no logbook?

The three day format builds the required operating time into the course itself, so your operator is assessed at the end of it instead of going away to accumulate hours.

Can you train on our own forklift?

Yes, and it is the better option where the gear is suitable. Training on your machine, in your yard, with your traffic and your racking means the skill transfers straight to the job.

Do you do refreshers?

Yes. Talk to us about in-house refresher and re-authorisation programs for operators who already hold a licence.
